Advantages of the RM series Centritherm thin film evaporator include:
Very thin film
The Centritherm uses centrifugal force to create a thin film of product on a conical heating surface. The film thickness can be measured in fractions of a millimetre resulting in a rapid transfer of heat energy and hence effective evaporation of the volatile (low boilers) material. The film developed is much thinner and more evenly distributed than traditional wiped film evaporator units.
Short residence time
The use of centrifugal force to evenly distribute a thin film results in residence times on the heating surface of typically less than one second. This is substantially shorter than other forms of thin film evaporators. It compares with residence times in the order of 15 to 20m seconds for vertical wiped film short path evaporators.
Low thermal impact
Due to the very short contact time with the heating surface the thermal impact on heat sensitive products in minimal. Even when working at the relatively high temperatures required to separate some higher boiling compounds the impact on the product is minimised.
Suitable for "short path" and "molecular" distillation
The unique design of these units makes them suitable for short path operation. The internal condenser is designed to reduces the distance that the evaporated molecules travel before contacting the condensing surface to a few centimetres.
Product surfaces easily inspected and validated (GMP)
The unit has been designed so that product surface validation is easily achieved. As with all Centritherm evaporation units CIP (clean in place) capabilities are built into the system.
